Swallow leads King Invite after first round
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Coming off an individual title in her last tournament, King's Elizabeth Swallow leads the King University Invitational after shooting a first-round 71. The Tornado shot a 323 on Monday, tied with Erskine College for second place overall and 13 strokes behind tournament leaders Limestone College.
Swallow was even on both the front and back nine in a round that featured four birdies, including three in a row early in the day. Her even-par first round of 71 gives her a three-stroke advantage over the next closest competitor, Limestone College's Hannah Luckett.
Anna Walker ended her day in 14th place with an 81, while Cortnee Young is in 16th place with a score of 82. Karissa King and Kerby Jones rounded out the scoring for the Tornado with rounds of 89 and 90, respectively.
King and Erskine hold a five-stroke advantage over Mount Olive College. The Tornado are tied for second in the eight-team event.
Tomorrow's second and final round will tee off at 9:15 a.m.
