Tornado duo perfect as King wraps up Super Region I Duals

PEMBROKE, N.C. - The King College men's wrestling team closed out the NCAA Division II Super Region I Duals Saturday with a 34-6 setback against No. 12 Pitt Johnstown then a 22-22 tie against Shippensburg (Pa.) University.

Brandon Tressler (Orlando, Fla.) and Frank Morgan (Maynardsville, Tenn.) both picked up decisions in the Pitt Johnstown match. Tressler, at 184-pounts was a 6-2 winner while Morgan won the 197-pound match 6-3.

John Forbes (Miami, Fla.) and Dondricus Anderson (Macon, Ga.) were both defeated by a single point in their decisions.

Tressler and Morgan both finished the event with perfect 4-0 records. In all Tressler had a 21-9 advantage in three decisions with a pin included. Morgan outscored his opponents 38-8 in the four matches.

Against Shippensburg, the Tornado had a forfeit win after a loss at 125 pounds. Another setback at 141 pounds was followed by Nic Stella (Sweet Home, N.Y.) winning 2-1. Shippensburg had back-to-back wins, a decision and forfeit before Forbes won with a pin at the 2:14 mark. Tressler and Morgan tacked on their wins, Tressler a 7-2 decision and Morgan a 14-3 major decision. In the finale Anderson was narrowly defeated 3-1.

King will wrestle at region foe Limestone (S.C.) College Tuesday and then host Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) College Wednesday. Both matches have a 7 p.m. scheduled start.
