Backend of Lineup Comes Alive in Win Over No. 12 Limestone

BRISTOL, Tenn. – A pair of pins tallied by Jeremy Miller and Dyvon Passmore helped secure a win in King College's first home dual meet of the season over No. 12 Limestone, 27-13.

Through three bouts the Tornado and Saints were even, 6-6, after decision wins by Jerrell McCabe (Virginia Beach, Va.) at 125 pounds and Tywan Claxton (Cleveland, Ohio) at 141 pounds. McCabe began the match with a 7-4 decision win over Eric Rholetter while Claxton fought through a pair of injury timeouts to win an 11-7 decision over Judson Smith.

After falling behind 6-9, freshman Jeremy Miller (Madison, Tenn.) pulled out a tide-turning win by pinning Brennin Adkins in the second period, 1:29 into the frame to take a 12-9 lead. Limestone retook the lead when Daniel McGillivray won a major decision over John Brasher (McCalla, Ala.) for a 12-13 lead but King won the next four bouts to secure the team victory.

Dyvon Passmore (Miami, Fla.) made easy work of Chris Didyoung (174), pinning him 2:02 into the opening period to regain the lead, 18-13. The Tornado never relinquished the advantage and scored nine more insurance points with consecutive wins by decision to close out the meet.

Brandon Tressler (Orlando, Fla.) returned to form with a win by decision, defeating Landon Hall (184) by a 6-2 count. Leading 21-13, Frank Morgan (Maynardville, Tenn.) clinched the win with a 10-3 decision over Demetre Ligiori (197), after Limestone decided to sit No. 1 Dan Scanlan. Dondricus Anderson (Macon, Ga.) finalized the meet with a 10-5 decision over Charles Weber, leading to a 27-13 team win over the Saints.

King will continue its regional play when they travel to Belmont, N.C. to wrestle Belmont Abbey College on Wednesday, Feb. 8 before hosting a tri-meet on Feb. 11 with Ohio Valley and Lake Erie College.
