Men’s Wrestling to Compete at Wolfpack Open, Announce Schedule Change

Tornado Men's Wrestling will head to the Wolfpack Open, hosted by North Carolina State University, this weekend.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – King Men's Wrestling has announced that there is a schedule alteration for this weekend. The Tornado will compete in the Wolfpack Open, hosted by North Carolina State University, this weekend. Coverage will be provided through for Sunday's open style tournament.

King will engage in their second open tournament this season after altering this weekend's schedule. The team will now head to North Carolina State University (Division I) to participate in Sunday's Wolfpack Open.

Tywan Claxton, ranked sixth in the country at 149 pounds, will lead the team after a 2-2 performance at last week's Hokie Open. Brandon Tressler (184) led the Tornado with three wins in last week's tournament and was matched by freshman Cody Broomall, who wrestled unattached.

The Wolfpack Open will feature most of the top college wrestling programs in the Southeast, with as many as 250-300 wrestlers competing in the 10 weight classifications. King will compete against Division I institutions from the region including Duke, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, and host NC State.

King also announced that the team's dual match versus regional rival Belmont Abbey College will be moved from Feb. 1 to Jan. 31. Start time for the match remains at 6 p.m.
