BRISTOL, Tenn. – Last week, King University head men’s wrestling coach, and assistant athletic director Nate Moorman was named the athletic director at Emmanuel College, leaving a King in search of a men’s wrestling coach. King athletic director David Hicks has named Jason Moorman the interim head men’s wrestling coach while King searches for the next men’s wrestling head coach.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Over the past eight years, Nate Moorman has laid a solid foundation for the King University men’s wrestling program. Moorman announced last week that he has accepted the position of director of athletics at Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, Ga.
TIFFIN, Ohio – The King University men’s wrestling team had two wrestlers with the opportunity to qualify for the NCAA Championships in two weeks as they competed in the second day of the NCAA Super Region II tournament. Both D’Marcus Spencer and Bryce Killian came up one place short of qualifying as the Tornado finished 12th in the region.
TIFFIN, Ohio – The King University men’s wrestling team opened competition at the NCAA Division II Super Region II Tournament today, and are in 13th place after the first of two days. D’Marcus Spencer and Bryce Killian led the Tornado as they both advanced to the second day of competition tomorrow.
ST. LOUIS – The King University men’s wrestling team traveled to the Maryville University Duals on Sunday where the Tornado came away with three losses after facing a lineup of the top teams in the country.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – In the latest NCAA Most Dominant Wrestlers standings, King University’s JA Jones and D’Marcus Spencer are near the top of Division II’s leaders in falls. Jones actually leads all of Division II and Spencer ranks fifth.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – In their final home duals of the season, the King University men’s wrestling team won both bouts in impressive fashion. The Tornado opened the day with a 43-4 victory over Ohio Valley University before Garrett Fosdyck took a win in double overtime at 285 to give King a narrow 24-21 win over Coker College.
BELMONT, N.C. – The King University men’s wrestling team continued their dual schedule on Thursday night at Belmont Abbey College. The Tornado fell behind early, but rolled off four straight wins to take control of the bout en route to the 28-12 victory.
PHILIPPI, W.Va. – The King University men’s wrestling team bounced back from their tough loss at #2 Newberry on Thursday with a dominant performance at Alderson-Broaddus University on Saturday. The Tornado had three pins in their 35-9 victory over the Battlers.
NEWBERRY, S.C. – The King University men’s wrestling team traveled to take on second-ranked Newberry College on Thursday night. After falling behind early, the Tornado came storming back, but it was enough as the Wolves took the dual 30-9.
NEWBERRY, S.C. – The King University men’s wrestling team traveled to Newberry College for the Super Region II Duals on Saturday and the Tornado are coming home with an undefeated record. The Tornado opened the day with a 24-21 win over University of Findlay and followed with a 24-17 victory over Shppensburg University. King capped the day by defeating Tiffin University 31-15 for their third win of the day.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – On Wednesday, USA Wrestling released their weekly award standings, and the King University men’s wrestlers were named. Garrett Fosdyck was named one of the Most Dominant wrestlers in NCAA Division II while JA Jones and D’Marcus Spencer are among Division II’s Fall Leaders.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – In their second home dual of the week, the King University men’s wrestling team squared off against Anderson University in the Student Center Complex on Saturday. The dual ended in a 27-27 tie, and Anderson won the tiebreaker to take the dual 28-27.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men’s wrestling team hosted their first dual of the season as they took on Limestone College on Wednesday night. The Tornado fell behind early, but made a late comeback to pull within four with two bouts left. King got another pin in the final bout, but fell 22-21 to the Saints.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. – The King University men’s wrestling team opened their dual meet season on Saturday at the Coker College Duals. The Tornado took a 27-14 win over Brewton-Parker College before falling to the host Cobras 23-15.
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The King University men’s wrestling team traveled to compete in the 35th Midwest Classic and turned in a 14th place finish among 29 teams in the prestigious event. D’Marcus Spencer and JA Jones both made to the second day of competition and took fifth and six, in their respective weight classes.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men’s wrestling team hosted their annual King Open on Saturday, and turned in a solid performance before the Thanksgiving break. JA Jones headlined a trio of wrestlers that finished in the top-3 of their weight class with a second place finish at the 165 pound weight class.
WARRNESBURG, Mo. – On Sunday, the King University men’s wrestling team competed at the University of Central Missouri Open. Garrett Fosdyck, Cody Davis and D’Marcus Spencer all reached the semifinals of their weight classes as Fosdyck earned the best finish of fourth at the event.
ERIE, Pa. – The King University men’s wrestling team turned in their second straight solid performance in their second event of the year. Madison Martin, Frank Yattani IV and Eldon Valery all finished in third place of their respective weight classes of the Mercyhurst Laker Open while Garrett Fosdyck and D’Marcus Spencer both came in second.
CHARLESTON, S.C. – The King University men’s wrestling team opened their season with a tough test at the Citadel Open. The Tornado turned in a solid day, especially at the 133 pound weight class as D’Marcus Spencer was the champion and Collin Crume came in with a third place finish.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men’s wrestling team had successful dual meet results last season, but the year ended in disappointment for the Tornado. The 2013-14 version of King’s squad is prepared and ready to improve upon their regional performance last season.
