Tornado fall to Anderson on tiebreaker

BRISTOL, Tenn. – In their second home dual of the week, the King University men's wrestling team squared off against Anderson University in the Student Center Complex on Saturday. The dual ended in a 27-27 tie, and Anderson won the tiebreaker to take the dual 28-27.

King won on a pair of forfeits at 197 and heavyweight to start the dual before Anderson's Cory Monteforte pinned Reed Jacks as the first period buzzer sounded at 125 to make the score 12-6 in favor of King. Cullen King stretch King's lead to 15-6 after earning an 8-5 win over Keenan Simmons at 133 pounds.

After the Trojans took a forfeit win at 141 pounds, Anderson's Sean Turner pinned Frank Yattoni IV at 149 pounds in 2:55 to give the Trojans an 18-15 lead. Zane Newton stretch Anderson's lead to 21-15 with a narrow 5-2 win over Chance Smith at 157 pounds.

However, JA Jones pulled King even at 21 when he pinned Stephen Wylie in 2:07 at 165 pounds. Nevertheless, Ian Harper, of Anderson came right back with a pin at 174 to give the Trojans a commanding 27-21 lead with one bout left. At 184 pounds, Blaike Henry brought the Tornado back, however, pinning Eric DeAngelis in 2:36 to even the dual at 27-27. With the score tied, the tie was broken by the fourth tiebreaker, first takedown of the first match, giving Anderson the 28-27 win.

King will be in action again on Saturday when they travel to the Super Region II Duals hosted by Newberry College in Newberry, S.C.
