BELMONT, N.C. – The King University men's wrestling team continued their dual schedule on Thursday night at Belmont Abbey College. The Tornado fell behind early, but rolled off four straight wins to take control of the bout en route to the 28-12 victory.
After King fell behind 3-0, D'Marcus Spencer got the Tornado momentum rolling as he pinned Gabe Pastirik in 1:50 at 133 pounds. Bryce Killian followed with solid 12-5 decision over Clemente Narviaz at 141 to give King a 9-3 lead. Frank Yattoni IV then took a win by medical forfeit at 149 before JA Jones earned his 10th pin of the season, pinning John Glunt in 2:23.
However, Belmont Abbey took back-to-back wins at 165 and 174 to cut their deficit to 21-9 with three bouts left. Blaike Henry extended the Tornado lead when he defeated Kwame Seymour on a major decision, 17-5 at 184 pounds. Garrett Fosdyck capped the Tornado victory with an 8-2 win over Glenn Cothren at 285 pounds.
King will be in action again on Sunday when they host the King Duals in the Student Center Complex. The Tornado will face Ohio Valley University at 11:30 a.m., followed by a bout with Coker College at 1:00 p.m.
