Shelton Named Women’s Soccer Player of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – King College midfielder Morgan Shelton has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Player of the Week for week five of the 2011 season. The announcement was made by the league office, Tuesday morning.

This is the second time this year Shelton has received the award.  The senior from Chattanooga, Tenn. recorded her second multi-goal game of the season, scoring her fifth and sixth goals of the year against Coker. Her second goal of the game broke a 2-2 tie and served as the game-winner, her second GWG of the year.

Against St. Andrews, Shelton was involved on the final three goals of the game, assisting twice before adding King's fourth goal of the day, her seventh of the season. With her two assists, she now has four games in which she has racked-up two or more goals or assists in a single game and her third four-point game this season.

The Tornado currently are 3-3 in league play and 4-4 overall. The team begins a four-match home stand with two games against Conference Carolinas competition in that time. Their first match of that stretch is on Oct. 5 at 2:00 p.m. against Cumberland University.
