King nearly sets a pair of records at Conference Carolinas meet

GAFFNEY, S.C. – The King University women's swimming & diving team competed at the Conference Carolinas meet, and nearly set a pair of school records on Friday afternoon. The Tornado finished fourth at the meet with a total of 17 points.

Olivia Langford started the day for the Tornado with a third place finish in the 200 yard freestyle to score three points. Her time of 2:02:.77 was under seven tenths of a second off the school record time of 2:02.15. Langford also scored four points in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:27.90, coming in with a second place finish. Also in the 500 free, Rachel Fuller earned one point after finishing fifth with a time of 5:44.58.

In the 50 yard butterfly, Samantha Vargo turned in a time of 28.77 seconds, only three tenths of a second off the school record for a fifth place finish to earn one point. Vargo also earned one point with a fifth place finish in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:06.26 seconds.

Fuller accounted for three more points in the 100 yard butterfly when she came in third with a time of 1:04.96. Nicole Maldonado earned King's final three points in the 50 yard freestyle as she clocked a time of 25.14 seconds to place third.

King will be in action again on Thursday when they travel to Milligan College. The meet is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m.
