Maldonado sets school record as Tornado defeat Emmanuel
FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The King University women's swimming & diving team took a road win, 112-69 over Emmanuel College on Saturday afternoon. Nicole Maldonado set a new school record in the 200 yard freestyle, and the Tornado set four personal records in all.
Maldonado finished the 200 yard freestyle in 1:59.38, besting the previous school record of 2:02.15 to win the event. Olivia Langford set a pair of personal records, in the 1,000 yard freestyle and 500 yard freestyle. Her 1,000 yard free time of 11:16.35 was three seconds faster than her previous best while her 500 free time of 5:27.50 bettered her fastest time by 0.40 seconds.
Jade Schroeder clocked the fastest 100 yard freestyle time of her career, 59.05 seconds while Maldonado nearly set another school record with her time of 54.28 seconds in the same event. The school record is 54.10, held by teammate Kelsey Wiese. Wiese turned in a solid performance today, winning the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 25.70 seconds, and taking second in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:02.87.
King will be in action again on November 1-2 when they travel to the Sewanee Invitational.
