Women's swimming and diving finishes fourth at Sewanee Invitational

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The King University women's swimming and diving team finished fourth of eight teams at the Sewanee Invitational on Friday and Saturday, scoring 408 points and defeating Mars Hill College for the first time in school history.

Several Tornado swimmers had outstanding performances. Olivia Langford placed second in the 400 yard IM, finishing in 4:53.94. She also finished the 1650 yard free in 19:07.43, good for fourth place among 17 competitors.

The Tornado had a strong showing in the 50 yard free. Nicole Maldonado won the event in 25.15, with teammate Kelsey Wiese finishing in third place with a time of 25.76. Maldonado's time was 0.01 seconds from her personal record time in the event, set at the Conference Carolinas Invitational in October.

Maldonado and Wiese also were among the leaders in the 100 yard free, coming in first and fifth, respectively. Maldonado finished the event in 55.03 seconds, while Wiese came in with a time of 58.21.

The Tornado will be back in action on Friday, November 8 as they take on Milligan College and Pfeiffer University in Milligan College, Tenn.
