Wiese breaks own school record in 50 free

BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The King University women's swimming and diving team took a split with Union College and Bethel University on Sunday, but Kelsey Wiese set a school record in the process. King defeated Bethel 105-24, and fell to Union 129-55 as Wiese broke her own school record in the 50 yard freestyle.

Wiese covered the 50 yard distance in 25.64 seconds to barely break her previous record by 0.01 seconds. In the 100 yard freestyle, Nicole Maldonado and Jade Schroeder turned in solid performances. Maldonado finished in 56.00 to place first while Schroeder finished in 1:01.40.

The 200 medley relay team of Wiese, Sarah Hennies, Samantha Vargo and Maldonado also had a solid performance, finishing in 2:01.71.

King will be in action again at the Appalachian Swimming Conference Championships that take place from Thursday-Saturday in Christiansburg, Va.
