Wisley leads Tornado on day 2 of Conference Championships

CHARLOTTE, NC – The King University women's swimming team competed at the Conference Carolinas Championships Thursday. The Tornado had some strong performances including Madison Wisley finishing first in the 50 yard freestyle event.

LOCATION: Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center; Charlotte, NC

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Wisley led the Tornado on day two of the conference championship with a 50 yard freestyle first place finish with a time of 24.32. The time was a personal best for Wisley.
  • Haley Carpenter also set a personal best in the 50 yard freestyle with her time of 27.87.
  • Jess Vargo posted a season best time of 2:12.50 in the 200 yard individual medley.

  • "We raced hard tonight and had some solid swims," said head coach James Graves. "The girls placed well in their events with Jess Vargo and Macarena Martin Mayor scoring big points.  Haley Carpenter continued to improve with a best time  while scoring points in the 50 free.  Congrats to Madison Wisley on her 1st place finish.  She was on a mission this year to win and she reached her goal"
