The King University Men's and Women's Tennis teams traveled today to North Greenville University. The Men's teams garnered their first conference win of the season while the Women fell to 0-1. The Men won convincingly by a score of 8-1 with strong wins in all six singles matches and wins at #'s 1 and 3 doubles. Senior Captain Patrick Jones led the Tornado with a dominating 6-0, 6-0 win at #4 and was followed by Junior Rafael Francisco at #5, 6-0, 6-1, and a quick, dominating win by much improved #6 freshman William Boyce, 6-0, 6-0. Juniors Leo Brigato and Rodrigo Avila won #1 Doubles handily 8-4, and Francisco and Boyce won their first #3 doubles match together by a score of 8-3.
The Lady Tornado fell to 0-1 in conference with the 7-2 loss. Senior Captain Karissa King played strongly in a very tough match losing to Susane Liuz 6-3, 6-3 in #1 singles. The 2 Tornado wins came by the solid play of freshmen Mariana Hosomi at #2 winning 6-4, 6-0, and Naomi Reyes at #3 winning solidly 6-1,6-1. Newcomer Amanda Huffaker continues to improve her game playing well in a 6-3, 6-0 loss.
Both teams travel to play Benedict College on Saturday at 2pm and Coker College on Sunday at 11am.
