SALISBURY, N.C. – The King University women's tennis team traveled to take on nonconference foe Catawba College on Friday afternoon. The Tornado took one doubles match, and one singles match as they fell to the Indians 7-2.
In doubles play, Alyssa Salazar and partner Naomi Reyes took an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles to get the Tornado (2-2) on the board. However, Catawba (4-4) took the other two doubles matches, taking a 2-1 lead going into singles play.
Reyes was again victorious in singles play as she defeated Lauren Sledd 7-5 in the first set of their No. 2 singles match. The sophomore took the sweep with a 7-3 win the tiebreak to take the final set 7-6 for the victory. However, the Indians took the final five singles matches to take the 7-5 dual match win.
King will be in action again tomorrow when the take on Emmanuel College. The dual match is scheduled to start at 1:00 p.m.
