King cruises to victory over Bluefield State

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's capped a 2-0 weekend with a victory over Bluefield State College on Sunday morning. The Tornado set the tone with a pair of doubles wins before clinching the 5-2 victory in singles play.

The No. 1 doubles duo of Alyssa Salazar and Katya Cerny defeated Laura Hernandez and Isabella Cubillos 8-6 before Mariana Hosomi and Naomi Reyes won by the same score at No. 2 doubles. The Rams got on the board by taking the No. 3 doubles match 8-6.

The Tornado (6-6) continued the momentum into singles play at Reyes took a 6-2, 6-1 win over Cubillos at No. 2 singles and Hosomi won 7-5, 6-4 at the third flight. Cerny clinched the 5-2 victory with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-1 win at No. 1 singles.

King will be in action again on Friday when they travel to UNC Asheville. First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
