BRISTOL, Tenn. – In its final home match of the Conference Carolinas season, the King University women's tennis team fell to Barton College 8-1.
The Tornado (7-11, 2-6 Conference Carolinas) got its lone win of the match at No. 2 doubles, as King's duo of Naomi Reyes and Mariana Hosomi dispatched of the Bulldogs' Alicia Lasry and Meredith Pruden 8-0. Barton (13-6, 6-3 Conference Carolinas) swept all six singles matches in straight sets, with the closest match coming at the fourth flight. King's Alyssa Salazar fell to Meredith Pruden 7-5, 6-4 in a tight battle.
King has five matches remaining in the regular season, four of which occur outside of Conference Carolinas play. The eighth-place Tornado travel to seventh-place Converse College on April 15 in an important match for conference tournament implications. The top eight teams in the league standings will advance to the Conference Carolinas Tournament, held April 25-27 in Sumter, S.C.
The Tornado play a nonconference match at Lenoir-Rhyne University on Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m.
