SUMTER, S.C. – The King University women's tennis team qualified for the Conference Carolinas Tournament for the first time in history this season, and faced second seeded Pfeiffer University in the quarterfinals on Friday morning. The seventh seeded Tornado dropped the dual 5-0, ending their season.
The Tornado (9-15) fell behind Pfeiffer (18-1) in doubles play as the Falcons took all three doubles matches. The Falcons took the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches by the identical scores of 8-1 before winning No. 3 doubles 8-0.
In singles play, Pfeiffer wrapped up the win in singles play as they took the No. 2 and No. 4 singles matches. Taylor Lindsay topped King's Naomi Reyes 6-1, 6-1 at the second flight, and Hannah Watson defeated Alyssa Salazar 6-1, 6-0 at the fourth flight.
King ends the season with an overall record of 9-15 after qualifying for the conference tournament of the first time.
