GREENVILLE, S.C. - King College's Carrie Nelson was awarded the NCCAA Women's Indoor Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Week, the national office announced.
Nelson, a senior from Independence, Va., broke the program record in the 5,000-meter with a time of 18 minutes and 19.52 seconds. She lowered the King record by 25 seconds and her personal best by 50 seconds. Nelson beat the NCCAA National qualifying mark by almost two minutes. She finished 13th overall at the Niswonger Invitational in the event.
She was a NCCAA Women's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week winner in November.
Next on the schedule for Nelson will be the NCCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championship on Feb. 19 at Indiana Wesleyan University.
