Witt Named Women’s Indoor Track Player of the Week

Hannah Witt was one of four Conference Carolinas Player of the Week honorees in the first awards of the 2013 Indoor Track & Field season.

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Conference Carolinas released the Week One Indoor Track & Field Players of the Week. King University's Hannah Witt was named the Women's Indoor Track Player of the Week after a superb start to the 2013 season with performances at the Niswonger Invitational and Liberty Open.

Hannah Witt, a senior from Mountain City, Tenn., set a new indoor school record in the 5,000-meter run at the Niswonger Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn. and finished sixth of 24 athletes at the event. Witt also set a new indoor school record in the 3,000-meter run at the Liberty Open in Lynchburg, Va. She only missed winning the event by 3.23 seconds and was the top non-Division I finisher. Her showing in the mile-run broke her personal record by more than 30 seconds. Witt's top marks are fifth in the mile, first in the 3,000-meters, and first in the 5,000-meters on the season so far in the Conference Carolinas.

Tornado Track & Field will resume action on Feb. 1 at the JDL Fast Track Hilton Garden Invitational, hosted in Winston Salem, N.C. The two-day event will be the final open meet before the inaugural Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championship, which serves as a part of the JDL Fast Track Invitational on Feb. 16, also in Winston Salem, N.C.
