Witt Earns Conference Weekly Honor for Second Straight Week
Distance runner Hannah Witt was named the Conference Carolinas Female Indoor Track Player of the Week for the second consecutive week.

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Conference Carolinas announced its Indoor Track & Field Male and Female Players of the Week, Wednesday, Feb. 6. Among those named was King distance runner Hannah Witt who was crowned Female Indoor Track Player of the Week. This is her second such award this year and second in as many week.

Witt earned the award after improving her 5,000-meter run for a second time this season, bettering the national qualifying mark by 16 seconds at last weekend's Hilton Garden Invitational (Winston Salem, N.C.). Witt turned in a time of 17:27 (adjusted) to place first out of 25 in the event. 

This is the second consecutive week she has earned the Indoor Female Track Player of the Week award. Last week, she did so after setting a new indoor school record in the 5,000-meter run at the Niswonger Invitational in Johnson City, Tenn. and finished sixth of 24 athletes at the event.

Witt and both Tornado track & field teams will complete the indoor season at the first-ever Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 16. The event will be held as part of a JDL Fast Track event in Winston Salem, N.C.
