CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The King University women's track and field team opened the outdoor portion of their season at the 49er Classic on Friday and Saturday. The Tornado turned in a solid weekend as Maegan Henry set a school record in the hammer throw, and King set six other personal records.
Henry's toss of 43.10 meter bested the previous hammer throw school record by nearly two meters. Henry also had stellar showing in the shot put, finishing second in a deep field of NCAA Division I athletes with a mark of 13.56 meters.
Melissa Arnold also set a person best in the hammer throw with a toss of 34.19 meters. Arnold also set a personal record in the discus with a toss of 30.37 meters. Christina Atkinson posted a personal record of 26.82 in the discus.
The duo of Eliza Parker and Tabby Arwood both set personal bests in the 5,000 meter run. Parker clocked a time of 18:17.50, and Arwood finished in 19:19.87. In the 100 meter dash, Alexis Robinson posted a personal record time of 12.66 seconds.
King will be in action again on Thursday and Friday at the Raleigh Relays.
