King holds onto NCAA stat rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - King College had three individual Top-50 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball rankings with three team rankings in the Top-50 as well, the national office released.

Kaitlyn Musick (Weber City, Va.) slipped a spot to No. 7 in hitting percentage. She had a hitting percentage of .434 at the time of the report, down from the .438 a week earlier. Kelsey Griffitts (Bristol, Va.) improved from No. 21 to No. 16 this week in the hitting percentage category. The freshman's percentage climbed up to .385 thanks to last week's performances. The national leader among NCAA Division II players in hitting percentage was once again Samantha Middleborn, from California State San Bernardino, at .531.

Shannon Earwood (Carson City, Nev.) landed at No. 45 in the assists per set catgetory. Her average was at 9.92 after being No. 42 a week ago. Southwest Minnesota State's Cara Carson leads the nation with a 12.43 average.

King's hitting percentage of .269 moved the squad down two spots to No. 18 this week. Dowling was No. 1 with a .366 hitting percentage. The Lady Tornado's .842 winning percentage ranked 22nd while King was No. 26 in aces per set at 2.14.

The Lady Tornado owns an 18-3 record after a pair of 3-0 wins against Concord (W.Va.) University and Southern Virginia University on Tuesday. Next on the schedule is a trip to Tusculum (Tenn.) College Friday for a 7 p.m. contest. King was defeated 3-2 by Tusculum in Bristol on Sept. 21.
