BRISTOL, Tenn. - King College has two pool play matches on Friday as a part of the NCCAA Mid-East Region Volleyball Tournament which will be played in Bristol at the Student Center.
King, the No. 7 team in the last NCCAA Division I Burbridge Rating, was placed in Pool B along with Asbury (Ky.) University, the No. 6 team in the national rating. Tennessee Temple University also will be in the pool.
The Pool A teams features Campbellsville (Ky.) University, ranked No. 4 nationally. Oakland City (Ind.) University and Covenant (Ga.) College rounds out the three team pool.
Pool play action starts Friday at 9 a.m. with King playing Tennessee Temple. Oakland City and Covenant play at 11 a.m. Asbury and Tennessee Temple have a 1 p.m. match. Campbellsville starts action against Covenant at 3 p.m. King and Asbury meet at 5 p.m. with Campbellsville and Oakland City finishing the day at 7 p.m.
The top two teams from each pool advances to Saturday's semifinals. Pool A winner draws Pool B runner up for a 10 a.m. match. Pool B winner and Pool A runner up meet at noon. The two semifinal winners are scheduled to meet at 3 p.m. for the NCCAA Mid-East Region Championship.
King comes in winners of five straight and eight of the last nine matches. The last time out King swept Brevard (N.C.) College on Nov. 9 to end the regular season at 27-8.
A season ago King reached the region championship, but lost 3-0 to Campbellsville. The Lady Tornado still received an at-large bid to the NCCAA Division I National Tournament. King beat Covenant 3-1 and Oakland City 3-0 in pool play before a 3-1 victory over Bryan (Tenn.) College in a semifinal contest.

5 p.m. - King vs. Asbury
