Lady Tornado Volleyball adds NCAA stats rankings

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - King College maintained three individual Top-50 NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball rankings and a team Top-50 ranking was added for the Lady Tornado this week.

Kaitlyn Musick (Weber City, Va.) moved up a spot to No. 6 in the nation's hitting percentage category. Musick had a .438 percentage at the end of play last week which was down from the Samantha Middleborn, from California State San Bernardino held onto the top spot nationally with a percentage of .554.

Kelsey Griffitts (Bristol, Va.) was down to No. 21 with her .382 hitting percentage. She remained in the Top-25 for a fourth-straight report.

Shannon Earwood (Carson City, Nev.) improved her assists per set to 10.02 which bumped her to No. 42, a jump of six spots. Concorida-St. Paul's Amanda Konetchy has the top spot again thanks to a 12.42 assists per set average.

In the team categories, the Lady Tornado's .265 hitting percentage came in at No. 16 after being No. 24 a week ago. The top spot was owned by Dowling with a .369 percentage. King also ranked No. 13 with a .882 winning percentage as four teams remain undefeated in NCAA Division II ranks. King added the No. 42 ranking in aces per set at 2.02. The District of Columbia has the top spot nationally at 4.08.

King improved to 16-3 after a 3-0 sweep Thursday over Bluefield State (W.Va.) College. Next for the Lady Tornado will be a trip to play Concord (W.Va.) University and Southern Virginia University at Concord on Tuesday. The Concord contest is scheduled for 2 p.m. followed by the Southern Virginia match at 4 p.m.
