King goes 4-0 at Charleston Invitational

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - King College finished a perfect weekend at the University of Charleston (W.Va.) Invitational Saturday with a pair of 3-0 wins over host Charleston and Bluefield State (W.Va.) College.

With the victories King improved to 8-1 and was the only team at the invitational to go undefeated. The 8-1 start to the season is the best under the direction of head coach Chris Toomey in his fourth season. The last time King opened at 8-1 was in 2005.

King started the day with wins of 25-9, 25-21 and 25-8 over Bluefield State. The Lady Tornado then was winners of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-22 against Charleston.

Kaitlyn Musick (Weber City, Va.) had 25 kills and six blocks in the two contests Saturday. Morgan (Kingsport, Tenn.) added 22 kills and five blocks.Machen

Shannon Earwood (Carson City, Nev.) was credited with 63 assists and Rachel Harding (Abingdon, Va.) added 31 digs.

The Lady Tornado welcomes UVa-Wise to Bristol for a 6:30 meeting Tuesday.
