Lady Tornado starts Pacer Volleyball Invite with split

AIKEN, S.C. - King College split a pair of matches Friday at the Pacer Volleyball Invitational as the Lady Tornado started with a 3-1 win over Montevallo before a 3-2 setback against host USC Aiken.

King won the opener against Montevallo 25-20 before the match was tied thanks to a 25-18 decision for Montevallo, with a 14-10 record. The Lady Tornado then won 25-19 and 25-23 to close out the match.

Against USC Aiken, the Lady Tornado took the opening two sets, 25-23 and 25-20. USC Aiken, at 11-11 on the season, forced a fifth set with wins of 25-21 and 25-17. In the deciding fifth set USC Aiken jumped out to a 7-0 lead before the final ended up 15-5.

The Lady Tornado, now at 19-6, closes out the invitational Saturday with matches against Francis Marion (S.C.) University at 10 a.m. and Augusta State (Ga.) University at 2 p.m.
