BRISTOL, Tenn. – Lady Tornado Volleyball invites residents of the Tri-Cities to the Student Center Complex this Friday, Oct. 5, for Community Night. Free admission will be provided to all area residents for King's Conference Carolinas match versus the Converse College Valkyries.
King is currently 11-8 overall and holds a 5-2 record in the Conference Carolinas standings. They currently share a lead in the West Division with Erskine College and are a half game out of second place in the overall conference standings. The Lady Tornado are currently on a three-match losing streak after having possessed an eight-match winning streak, including five straight league contests.
Sophomore Summer Kremer (Mills River, N.C.) leads the team in kills (272) and kill-related categories including kills per set (3.63) and total attacks (700). She comes off a 21-kill match against Tusculum College, tying a single-game career high.
Freshman middle blocker Grace Underwood currently hits with the highest efficiency rate at .251 while putting up the second-most kills on the team (138). Junior middle blocker Kelsey Griffitts (Bristol, Va./John Battle H.S.) leads the team defensively at the net with 44 total blocks and 14 solo. Sophomore defensive specialist Payton Tipton (Cleveland, Tenn.) currently leads to the team with 268 digs.
Following Community Night this Friday (Oct. 5), King will host a tri-match on Saturday, Oct. 6, featuring Erskine College and Carson-Newman College. The Lady Tornado will open with Erskine at 11 a.m. and return to the court for Carson-Newman at 3 p.m. Live stats and video will be available for all matches.
