BRISTOL, Tenn. – Follow the final conference regular season match of the women's volleyball season, King learned its postseason destiny on Tuesday afternoon. The Lady Tornado will play Belmont Abbey College in their quarterfinal round match in Concord, N.C. on Saturday, Nov. 10.
With Lees-McRae falling to Queens (N.C.) on Tuesday afternoon in three games, King jumped into the No. 3 spot in the West Division, placing them in a cross-divisional match with the No. 2 Belmont Abbey Crusaders out of the East Division. Queens (N.C.) slipped into the No. 1 spot in the East, lining them up for a rematch with the Bobcats (No. 4 West) in their opening round contest.
King (16-15, 9-7) will travel to Concord, N.C. to take on the Crusaders at the Wheeler Center. The quarterfinal match will be held this Saturday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. The Lady Tornado and Crusaders met once this season where Belmont Abbey took a 3-0 win away inside the Wheeler Center. In that match, Belmont Abbey outhit King .333 to .072 in hit percentage. Hannah Schellenberg led the Crusaders with 14 kills while Summer Kremer tallied eight to lead the Lady Tornado. King held the block advantage, 8-4.
The winner of King/Belmont Abbey will play the winner of East No. 4 Barton and West No. 1 Erskine on Nov. 14 at the home of the higher seed.
