Tornado earn academic honor from AVCA
BRISTOL, Tenn. – The 2013 season is about to start, but the King University women's volleyball still earned recognition from the 2012-13 season. The Tornado were named one of the recipients of the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for 2012-13. The AVCA Team Academic Award honors high school and collegiate teams that maintained at least a 3.30 grade-point average.
King was one of 77 NCAA Division II schools to earn the honor, representing the nation's top 12 percent, academically. King was also the only Conference Carolinas member to be named to list. The Tornado posted a team GPA of 3.84 over the 2012-13 school year.
The Tornado open the 2013 season on September 6 and 7 at the University of West Georgia Invitational before returning home on September 13 and 14 to host their own tournament, the King University Invitational.
