U.S. places seventh at Junior World Championships

FILA Junior World Championship Results

SOFIA, Bulgaria – On Thursday and Friday, four King University women's wrestlers competed for the U.S. at the FILA Junior World Championships on team coached by Tornado head coach Jason Moorman. The eight-person squad posted 27 points, placing seventh out of 25 teams at the event.

Granger, Ind., native Sarah Hildebrandt turned in the best finish among King wrestlers, finishing 10th in the 55 kg weight class. The junior won her first match on a tech fall 8-0 (3:00) over Romania's Simona Pricob. However, Hildebrandt dropped her next two matches to finish 10th.

King's other wrestlers, Lorrie Ramos (67 kg), Julia Salata (72 kg) and incoming freshman Haley Augello (51 kg) all dropped their first matches, ending their competition.

The U.S. team turned in a seventh place finish with 27 points while Japan won the event with 51 points. Russia took third with 44 points while Mongolia finished third with 44 points.
