Top-ranked Tornado host lone home event Saturday
BRISTOL, Tenn. – As the top-ranked team in the country, the King University women's wrestling team hosts their lone event on Saturday in the Student Center Complex. The Tornado host both University of Cumberlands and Campbellsville University starting at 9:00 a.m., Saturday morning.
The Tornado start the day early as they take on Campbellsville at 9:00 a.m., before Campbellsville takes on Cumberlands at 10:00 a.m. King head coach Jason Moorman will wrestle two teams at the event with his second team taking on Cumberlands at 11:00 a.m., followed by a bout with Campbellsville at 12:00 p.m. The featured match will take place at 1:00 p.m., when the Tornado face Cumberlands to conclude the day of wrestling at the Student Center Complex.
King was the preseason #1 ranked team in the Women's Collegiate Wrestling Association (WCWA) Preseason ranks and had three wrestlers ranked #1 in their weight classes. The Tornado opened the season by sweeping through the Cliff Keen Duals last weekend in Oklahoma City, Okla., going 7-0 to take the title. In the championship match, King defeated defending WCWA national champion Simon Fraser University 35-9.
