BRISTOL, Tenn. – In the third installment of the Women's Collegiate Wrestling Association's (WCWA) poll, the King University women's wrestling team remains at the top. The Tornado received 124 points in the latest poll, ranking ahead of Oklahoma City University and defending national champion Simon Fraser University.
The Tornado were ranked #1 in the preseason, and not much has changed as they still sit atop of the poll with just over one month left until the WCWA College Nationals. King has lived up to the #1 billing so far this season as head coach Jason Moorman has led King to an undefeated dual match record.
Not only are the Tornado ranked #1 as team, but three King individuals are ranked atop their respective weight classes. Freshman Haley Augello is ranked first at 116 pounds while Alli Ragan is #1 at 136 pounds and Julia Salata sits atop the 155 pound weight class. Sarah Hildebrandt (123 pounds), Amanda Hendey (143 pounds), Lorrie Ramos (170 pounds) and Malexis McAdoo (191 pounds) all rank second in the latest rankings. In all, 16 wrestlers from King are ranked in the top-10 of their weight class.
The Tornado will be in action again on January 4 at the Waldorf Open in Forest City, Iowa before traveling back to Iowa on January 10-12 for the NWCA National Duals in Des Moines. King closes the WCWA season at the WCWA College Nationals on January 24-25 in St. Louis, Mo.
