TOKYO, Japan – King University senior women's wrestler Alli Ragan continued to compete for the USA Senior World team this weekend at the Women's World Cup in Tokyo, Japan. Ragan posted a 2-2 record at the event, helping the team to a sixth place finish.
Wrestling at 58 kg in the event Ragan fell to Risako Kawai on a tech fall, and the team dropped the dual 5-3 to host Japan. Ragan and Team USA rebounded to top Hungary 7-1 in their next dual. The Carbondale, Ill., native defeated her opponent, Ramona Galambos 8-3.
Next, the team fell to China 5-3, and Ragan dropped her bout on a tech fall to Zhou Zhangtingi, putting Team USA in the fifth place dual on Sunday afternoon. The American squared off with Mongolia, and Ragan won a tight 8-6 decision over Sukhee Tserenchimegd. However, the dual ended in a 4-4 tie, and Mongolia took home fifth on criteria.
Japan won the event, defeting Russia 8-0 in the championship dual, and China defeated Canada 6-2 to take third place.
