Small went 4-1 during the month that included an NCAA Super Region II runner-up finish. He finished the month with a 2-1 record at the regional championships where he defeated NCAA Division II’s top-ranked wrestler at 141 pounds, Isiah Royal of Newberry College on an 11-2 major decision in the semifinals. That earned Small an NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships berth. Earlier in the month, Small capped the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas (SACC) season with a pair of wins, one major decision and one technical fall. He finished the season with a 5-1 conference record, earning SACC Freshman of the Year honors and second team All-SACC recognition.
