BRISTOL, Tenn. – As a result of contributions from generous supporters and the use of institutional funds, King Athletics was able to make two upgrades to their athletic facilities this Summer, enhancing the student-athlete experience. The acrobatics & tumbling student-athletes arrived on campus in August to find a new locker room, while new bleachers were added to the softball complex, including a new set of stairs for easy access.

In the basement of Kline Hall, a storage closet and office were remodeled and converted into the acrobatics and tumbling locker room. Much of the work was completed by King's facilities services staff and outside contractors, while the coaching staff painted lockers and added other amenities.

"These student-athletes have worked incredibly hard over the last five years and we wanted them to be able to have a space they could call their own, and allow them to have a place where they could show off their accomplishments," head coach Miranda Merkison said. "Along with the locker room, we have listed our team accomplishments on a banner inside of Kline Hall where the team practices, as well as individual accomplishments posted in the locker room. We couldn't be more proud of this locker room and setting a new tone for our future here at King University!"

At the softball field, a concrete pad was poured and the coaching staff assembled the new bleachers which sit directly behind home plate. There was also a new staircase that was built, leading down to the bleachers, helping fan accessibility.

"We are very excited about the additions made to our beautiful softball field," head coach Jake Cockerham said. "There was a lot of hard work and planning by so many to make these additions happen, and we want to thank everyone who was involved for their efforts."

"These latest amenities will add tremendously to the experience for everyone at our home softball games," Cockerham continued. "I know our student-athletes cannot wait to play in front of our many supportive King fans and see everyone packed in our new bleachers behind home plate every day!"
