Singles play leads North Greenville past King

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's tennis team returned to action when they faced North Greenville University on Friday. The Tornado got off to a hot start in doubles, but the Crusaders came back in singles play to take the match 6-3.

For King (3-9, 2-4 CC), the No.1 doubles duo of Moritz Poswiat and Luis Delgado earned a 6-3 win over Jose Gomez and Sergio Filho, and Seth Carelli and Lennard Keswani topped Sjors van Eck and Marcel Yshikawa 6-2 at No. 2 doubles. The Crusaders (4-5, 3-0 CC) won the third doubles match by default, make the score 2-1 going into singles.

Keswani dropped a 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 match to van Eck at No. 1 singles and Poswiat fell 1-6, 7-5, 10-8 at No. 2 doubles to Filho as North Greenville tried to grab the momentum. However, Delgado took a 6-3, 6-3 win over Gomez at the third flight to get King on the board. It wasn't to be however as the Crusaders took the final three matches to win the dual 6-3.

King will be in action again on Saturday when they face Southern Wesleyan at 1:00 p.m. on the King University campus.
