King falls to Barton in CC quarterfinals despite No. 1 doubles win

SUMTER, S.C. – The King University men's tennis team dueled against Barton College to open the Conference Carolinas tournament. The duo of Luis Delgado and Moritz Poswiat gave the Tornado an early 1-0 lead at No. 1 doubles but it would not be enough as King fell to the Bulldogs 5-1.

In her first year as head coach, Mariia Ilina saw the men's tennis team reach the Conference Carolinas quarterfinals. The Tornado started fast when Delgado and Poswiat earned a win at No. 1 doubles 8-4. King lost the next two doubles matches and moving into singles play, King trailed Barton 2-1 in a first to five matchup.

To start singles play, Poswiat, Seth Carelli, and Ankith Reddy Madasani dropped their matches as King fell to Barton 5-1. Not finishing their contests were two, Keswani who took Jake McCartney into the third set before the match was halted. Makar Grytsevych also took his opponent, Daniel Radu, to three sets before the match was ceased as well.

The Tornado complete their season with a 6-12 record and their fourth consecutive Conference Carolinas tournament appearance.
