Box Score BELMONT, N.C. – Tyre Moore Jr., had a career night, leading the King University men's basketball team to a win at Belmont Abbey College. Moore poured in a career-high 28 points as the Tornado handed the Crusaders their first Conference Carolinas defeat of the season 78-75.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Period
- Moore got the Tornado offense going early with a three-point basket and Justin Frazier followed with a layup and triple to give King an 8-2 lead.
- Isaiah Curry started a 9-0 Tornado run with a layup before Mike Salomon and Moore drilled back-to-back triples.
- A Jordan Young free throw capped the run and gave King a 22-15 lead.
- However, the Crusaders responded with an 8-0 spurt, vaulting the Crusaders into a 23-22 lead.
- The lead changed hands again as Moore gave King a 29-23 and capped a 7-0 run with a jump shot.
- Belmont Abbey responded again, regaining the lead with seven straight points before the teams traded points down the stretch of the half.
- The Crusaders scored four of the final five points of the first half, taking a 37-36 lead at halftime.
Second Period
- Belmont Abbey opened up a five-point advantage early in the second half, but the Tornado answered with seven straight points to take a 45-43 lead following a James Brown trifecta.
- A Frazier triple broke a tie, and then Moore got hot. He drilled three straight three-point baskets, vaulting King into a 57-51 lead with 13 minutes remaining.
- Another trifecta from Moore stretched the King lead to double digits and a Salomon layup gave King their largest lead of the game at 73-61 with five minutes remaining.
- However, the Belmont Abbey defense fueled their offense and got the home crowd fired up.
- The Crusaders scored nine straight points, cutting their deficit to 73-70 with two minutes remaining.
- Moore came up big again, knocking down his eighth triple of the game to extend the King lead.
- Belmont Abbey cut their deficit to 76-75, but Salomon made two free throws with one second remaining, icing the 78-75 for the Tornado.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Moore led the Tornado with 28 points on 10-for-14 shooting, including 8-for-11 from three-point range.
- Frazier followed with 16 points and six assists.
- Young added 10 points and 14 points for his third straight double-double.
- Salomon chipped in with 10 points and Curry added nine points.
FOR THE FOES
- DeQuan Abrom led Belmont Abbey with 23 points.
- Romeao Ferguson added 16 points while Sean Halloran added 12 points and nine assists.
- John Bown scored 11 points and six rebounds.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Moore's 28 points marks a career-high. His previous best was 19 points last Saturday against Mount Olive.
- His eight three-point baskets is the third most made in a game in school history.
