Box Score DUE WEST, S.C. – The King University men's volleyball team stayed on the road to face Conference Carolinas foe Erskine College. Road conference games are always tough, and the Tornado learned that in the 3-2 defeat on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- The Tornado got off to a good start, opening up a 6-2 lead behind consecutive kills from Joshua Kim and Suetonius Harris.
- However, the Flying Fleet answered with nine straight points, taking an 11-6 advantage.
- A kill from Sean Kohlhase pulled the Tornado within 13-11, but Erskine responded by scoring five of the next six points.
- The Tornado made a run late, pulling within 24-23 with a 5-2 run, but the Flying Fleet scored the final point to take the set 25-23.
Second Set
- King again got off to a hot start, taking a 6-1 lead following four straight points and a Kohlhase ace.
- Erskine used a 7-3 spurt to pull within 12-11, but Jon Wheaton sparked a 5-0 Tornado run with a kill.
- King led 19-12 before another Flying Fleet run, pulled Erskine back to even.
- Erskine scored 12 of the next 17 points, evening the tally at 24.
- However, Harris came up with a kill and Dalton Johnson gave King the 26-24 win with a block.
Third Set
- Erskine looked to gain separation in the third set with a 3-0 run that broke a 13-13 tie.
- The Tornado came back and evened the score at 17 with three straight points, capped by a Kohlhase kill.
- The Flying Fleet then held a slim advantage the rest of the way and held a 24-22 lead before JT Deppe came up with a block and kill to even the score.
- King scored another point before Wheaton gave King the 26-24 victory with a kill.
Fourth Set
- Erskine got off to a good start, using a 4-0 run to take a 10-5 lead in the early going.
- The Tornado tried to climb back as a 3-0 capped by a Kohlhase and Johnson block pulled King within 20-17.
- However, the Flying Fleet then closed the 25-18 victory with a 5-1 run.
Fifth Set
- Harris started a 4-0 King spurt where the Tornado opened up a 10-6 lead.
- However, the Flying Fleet responded with three straight points before Kim got the Tornado back on the board.
- Erskine didn't slow down, however, scoring five consecutive points and six of the last seven to take the set 15-12 and the match 3-2.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Kim led King with 15 kills and 10 digs for the double-double. He added six blocks.
- Harris followed with 13 kills and eight digs.
- Wheaton registered 12 kills and 10 blocks.
- Kohlhase added 10 digs and eight kills.
- Deppe recorded a double-double with 47 assists and 11 digs.
- Leo de Quadros led the defense with 15 digs.
FOR THE FOES
- Keegan Sullivan led Erskine with 22 kills while Griffin Spence followed with 19 kills and eight digs.
- Alejandro Irizarry accounted for 17 kills while Francisco Pomar handed out 62 assists.
- Lancy Aldebol led the defense with 15 digs while Josh Arrowood and Hector Callozo followed with 13 digs each.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- King posted a season-high 15 blocks and 56 digs.
- Kim posted his first career double-double.
- De Quadros matched his career-high of 15 digs for the second straight match.
- Deppe registered his second straight double-double.
- The 10 blocks for Wheaton marks a career-high.
