Kohlhase, Young named All-Conference Carolinas

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's volleyball season was cut short due to the national pandemic of COVID-19. Conference Carolinas announced their all-conference team, comprised of seniors from each member school as Sean Kohlhase and Julian Young were named to the team.

Kohlhase was a first team all-conference selection a season ago and was off to a solid start to the 2020 season. The Peoria, Ariz., native was selected Conference Carolinas Player of the Week on February 10 after leading King to wins over Emmanuel College and Erskine College while he hit .404 and averaged 3.57 kills per set. This year, Kohlhase averaged 2.74 kills per set while hitting .239. He also owned averages of 1.15 digs and 0.34 blocks per set. He tallied a season-high 18 kills and hit .314 in a five-set win over Tusculum University on March 5.

In his three-year career wearing the scarlet and navy, Kohlhase averaged 2.71 kills per set while hitting .242 from his outside hitter position. He also averaged 1.25 dis and 0.38 blocks per set.

Young was a force at the net for the Tornado this season, ranking second in the league in block assists (47) and total blocks (53) while ranking eighth in solo blocks (6). His average of 1.00 blocks per set ranked third in Conference Carolinas. Offensively, Young owned a hitting percentage of .331 with an average of 1.47 kills from his middle blocker position.

In his career, the Chesterfield, Va., native averaged 0.65 blocks per set and hit .245 with an average of 1.29 kills per set, playing right side and middle blocker.
