BRISTOL, Tenn. – Beginning with the men's and women's basketball games against Lees McRae College on Tuesday, February 2, King University will allow a limited number of students at home athletic events.
"I'm excited to offer our students the opportunity to come and show their support for our student-athletes," director of athletics
David Hicks said. "As the COVID-19 situation has continued to improve, we have been eager to provide all students with opportunities to engage in activities that bring a sense of normalcy to campus."
Students will be required to show their King ID upon entrance, and attendance will be limited to the first 100 students to arrive for each event. The first 30 students for each basketball game on Tuesday will receive King swag, courtesy of SLACK.
"We are certainly excited that King students will be allowed to attend our games," said head men's basketball coach
Jason Gillespie. "I know that our student-athletes will benefit greatly from their support. It has definitely been a surreal feeling in quiet gyms."
King will continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation locally and on campus, and as the situation allows, hopes to expand attendance opportunities to faculty, staff, and families at some point in the season.
All Tornado home games will be streamed on the
Tornado Sports Network as part of the Conference Carolinas Digital Network.
