Veronica Roach of the King University women's soccer team had a big week, leading the Tornado to a win and a draw in two matches. She accounted for game-tying and game-winning goals and added two assists.
The sophomore Scored her first two career goals, one coming in each contest for the Tornado. On Wednesday at Erskine College, Roach assisted on the first Tornado goal, before finding the back of the net for the first time. She dribbled past a pair of Flying Fleet defenders and her shot beat the goalkeeper, giving King a 2-0 lead in a contest the Tornado won 3-1.
On Saturday against Emmanuel College, she picked up another assist, setting up King's first goal near the end of the first half. She then delivered the game-tying goal in the 62nd minute, taking a shot from the middle of a defenders that found the lower right corner as King played to a 2-2 draw with the Lions.
This is the first Conference Carolinas weekly award for Roach.
The Tornado close out the regular season with home matches on Wednesday and Sunday. King takes on rival Lees-McRae College at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday before facing Chowan University at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
