BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University swept the Conference Carolinas Tennis Players of the Week when the league announced their winners on Tuesday.
Rhys Halcrow took home honors on the men's side while
Mishka Koricinova earned the award on the women's side.
Halcrow helped lead the Tornado to a win over Emory & Henry College on Saturday, winning both of his matches. In doubles play along with partner
Pedro Laydner, Halcrow defeated Brandon McGuire and Corey Garrity 6-1 at No. 2 doubles to help King take the doubles point. Playing No. 2 singles, Halcrow defeated Archer Marlow 6-3, 6-1, helping King to the 7-0 victory.
Koricinova helped the Tornado to a 5-2 win over Emory & Henry College by winning both of her matches. At No. 1 doubles with partner
Deniz Aytun the Tornado defeated Payton Holt and Sabina Chernega 6-1 as King took the doubles point. At No. 2 singles, she earned a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Holt.
This marks the first Conference Carolinas weekly award for each.
Saturday's matches concluded the fall portion of the schedule for the Tornado as they will be back in action this spring.
