HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set

  • The Bulldogs started the match hot, as they raced out to a 3-0 lead before a service error gave King a point.
  • After the teams exchanged points, the Tornado started to pull away, starting with a block by Ramsey and Julie Ward that gave King the 13-10 lead and ended a Barton run.
  • After a Barton timeout, King would score the next five points to take a 17-10 lead.
  • The Bulldogs would claw their way back, but ultimately dropped the set 25-22.

Second Set

  • The second set was even until the Tornado took a 11-10 lead off a Barton attack error.
  • From there, King would eventually extend the lead to 17-13, forcing the Bulldogs to call timeout.
  • King finished the set on an 8-3 run, with Paula La Mendola recording back-to-back service aces to close things out.

Third Set

  • Set 3 started much like the first set, with Barton jumping out to a 6-1 lead.
  • Ramsey recorded a kill to make things 6-2, sparking a Tornado rally that would eventually see them take a 12-11 lead off an Allie Zimmerman kill.
  • The Bulldogs held tough with the Tornado throughout the rest of the set, with the largest King lead being a three-point advantage, though each time the Bulldogs cut it down.
  • The Tornado took their final lead at 23-22, then recorded two quick points, including a block by Ward and Ramsey that closed out the match.
