BRISTOL, Tenn. — Brittney Ramsey posted a season-high six blocks Saturday afternoon as the Tornado topped the Barton Bulldogs in straight sets.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- The Bulldogs started the match hot, as they raced out to a 3-0 lead before a service error gave King a point.
- After the teams exchanged points, the Tornado started to pull away, starting with a block by Ramsey and Julie Ward that gave King the 13-10 lead and ended a Barton run.
- After a Barton timeout, King would score the next five points to take a 17-10 lead.
- The Bulldogs would claw their way back, but ultimately dropped the set 25-22.
Second Set
- The second set was even until the Tornado took a 11-10 lead off a Barton attack error.
- From there, King would eventually extend the lead to 17-13, forcing the Bulldogs to call timeout.
- King finished the set on an 8-3 run, with Paula La Mendola recording back-to-back service aces to close things out.
Third Set
- Set 3 started much like the first set, with Barton jumping out to a 6-1 lead.
- Ramsey recorded a kill to make things 6-2, sparking a Tornado rally that would eventually see them take a 12-11 lead off an Allie Zimmerman kill.
- The Bulldogs held tough with the Tornado throughout the rest of the set, with the largest King lead being a three-point advantage, though each time the Bulldogs cut it down.
- The Tornado took their final lead at 23-22, then recorded two quick points, including a block by Ward and Ramsey that closed out the match.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Hailee Blankenship finished with 17 digs for the Tornado, marking the second straight match where she has recorded double-digit digs.
- Ward had another standout match, leading the Tornado in kills (10) and total blocks (3). This was the third time this season she has recorded three blocks in a match.
- La Mendola had a career-high four service aces for King
- Ramsey finished with a season-high six blocks.
FOR THE FOES
- Allison Gambill finished with 10 kills and 11 digs for the Bulldogs.
- Sarah Burton had four total blocks, all of which were assisted.
