Lee's big week leads to Conference Carolinas Player of the Week honors

BRISTOL, Tenn. – For the first time in her career, Trinity Lee of the King University women's basketball team has been selected Conference Carolinas Player of the Week. She led the Tornado to pair of wins last week, scored her 1,000th-career point, and topped the 30-point mark in a game for the first time in her career.

In the final game of the week, an 80-76 come-from-behind win at UNC Pembroke, Lee poured in a career-high 31 points, becoming the first Tornado in the NCAA Division II era (since 2010-11) to top the 30-point mark in a contest. In the game she shot 6-for-8 from three-point, 8-for-13 from the floor and 9-for-10 from the free throw line. She also grabbed a season-high eight rebounds the contest. Not only did she become the first Tornado in the last 10 years to score 30 points in a game, but she also became the third Tornado in that time to reach 1,000 career points.

Earlier in the week, the Knoxville, Tenn., native scored 13 points and added five rebounds in a win at Lees-McRae College before leading King with 18 points and six rebounds at Francis Marion University on Friday night. For the week she shot 54.8 percent, including 55.6 percent from long range. Along with her 20.7 points per game average, she grabbed 6.3 rebounds per game.
