FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – The King University men's volleyball team bounced back from their defeat on Friday night with a sweep at Emmanuel College on Saturday afternoon.
Diego Marcano paced the Tornado offense in the 3-0 Conference Carolinas victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- King made their move in the middle of the set, using a 4-0 run to take a 12-10 lead.
- Another Tornado 4-0 run that featured kills from Marcano and Jackson Carroll and blocks from Marcano and Aaron Milstead and a solo block from Milstead gave King a 17-12 lead.
- Emmanuel ran off four straight points, pulling within 21-19, but back-to-back kills from Joshua Kim gave King the 25-17 victory.
Second Set
- Marcano posted a pair of kills on a 3-0 spurt that gave King a 6-3 lead in the second set.
- King later led 19-15 before the Lions started to work their way back. A 4-0 Emmanuel run gave the Lions a 22-21 lead.
- The Tornado responded with three straight points, taking a 24-22 lead, but the Lions fought back again.
- The score was even at 25 before consecutive points from the Tornado, the second on a kill from Marcano gave King the 27-25 victory.
Third Set
- Emmanuel used a 7-0 run early in the set gave the Lions a 9-5 advantage.
- The Tornado gradually worked their way back and eventually evened the tally at 15 following a Marcano kill.
- A 4-0 spurt turned a one-point Tornado deficit into a 20-17 lead.
- King opened up a 23-18 lead following a Kim kill before Kim ended the set and the match with another termination.
- The Tornado took the set 25-21 and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Marcano led King with 14 kills to go along with three blocks and four digs.
- Kim followed with 13 kills and five digs.
- Melendez led the back row with 16 digs.
- JT Deppe handed out 32 assists and added seven digs.
- Milstead led the Tornado with eight blocks, three solo.
FOR THE FOES
- Aleksa Lakic led Emmanuel with 15 kills, five digs and four blocks.
- Henrick Westhoff handed out 26 assists.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Melendez broke his career-high for digs a match that was set on Friday night with 16 on Saturday.
- For the second straight match, Milstead recorded a career-high eight blocks.
