HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Tornado defense was stout all day, only allowing the Valkyries to take three shots in each half and King held the Valkyries without a corner kick in the contest.
- O'Ferral recorded the first two chances of the game, taking a shot that was saved in the seventh minute and another sailed high in the eighth minute.
- King continued firing the first half as Brody had a shot turned away in the 22nd minute and Morgan Johnson's shot in the 44th minute was turned away as well.
- The Tornado took nine shots in the opening 45 minutes, placing three on frame, but the score remained 0-0.
- Converse controlled play early in the second half, sending a pair of shots wide of the goal in the opening 15 minutes.
- The best chance the Valkyries had to score was in the 63rd minute when Cailey Owens came down the right side of the field and ripped a shot from 10 yards out.
- However, Lucy Barrientos came up with a great diving save in the right hand side of the net to keep the game scoreless.
- From that point, King turned the field and eventually broke through in the 86th minute when Brody lobbed a pass near the right side of the box to O'Ferral.
- O'Ferral then shot to the back post, beating the keeper and giving King the 1-0 lead.
- The Tornado then ran out the clock, taking the 1-0 victory.
