BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's volleyball team came away with a nonconference win on Wednesday night, defeating Montreat College 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
Second Set
- King used a 5-0 run to turn a 12-10 deficit into a 14-12 lead following a pair of Ward aces and kill from Ramsey.
- A Jayne kill capped the 9-2 Tornado run that vaulted King into an 18-14 advantage.
- King then scored seven of the final nine points, including the final three to take the set 25-18.
- Jayne had a kill before Ramsey closed the set with a block and kill.
Third Set
- A pair of Ward aces gave King an early 5-1 lead, but the Cavaliers fought back.
- Montreat worked their way back an evened the score at 14 before taking a 17-15 lead.
- Davis and Holtzclaw came up with a block before back-to-back kills from Jayne and Holtzclaw gave King an 18-17 lead.
- Montreat again led 20-19 before an Allie Zimmerman kill sparked a 4-0 King spurt.
- A Ramsey block put the Tornado ahead 23-20 as King went on to take the set 25-21 and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Ramsey led the Tornado with seven kills and seven blocks, including three solo stuffs. She also hit .600 in the match, making just one error.
- Warded added seven kills and 13 digs.
- Gabri Puertas accounted for 13 digs.
- Davis posted five kills, 16 assists, seven digs and three blocks.
- Holtzclaw and Jayne added six kills each with Jayne posting eight digs.
FOR THE FOES
- Haley Horton and Julianna Hummert led Montreat with five kills each.
- Katie James handed out 11 assists and added six digs.
- Ally Brown accounted for 18 digs and McKinley Edmondson registered 11 digs.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The 13 digs for Puertas sets a career-high.
