King defeated by Barton in regular season home finale

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's soccer team competed in their final regular season home game on Sunday afternoon. The Tornado hosted Barton College and were defeated by the Bulldogs 3-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Barton put the pressure on the Tornado early, registering their first corner kick of the match less than four minutes in.
  • A diving save from Dalton Gammon in the ninth minute play spoiled a headed attempt at goal by Barton's Omar Aboutaleb.
  • The Bulldogs opened the scoring in the 35th minute when Ludovic Rocha slotted home a feed from Tobias Nielsen to give Barton a lead that they never surrendered.
  • A screamer from Pedro Valladares that kissed off the far post put Barton up 2-0 less than eight minutes into the second half.
  • King quickly responded with one of their better chances of the contest. Ruben Laureano fired in a shot to the bottom left corner, but a sprawling Jacob Randolph preserved the clean sheet.
  • Barton found the back of the net for a third time in the 75th minute when Tobias Nielson fired home a free kick from just outside the box.
  • The Tornado kept fighting, earning another corner in the late stages of the contest and seeing a shot from Lucas Lavender go wide right.
  • Lavender's shot was the final chance of the game from either side as Barton secured the clean sheet and three-goal victory.
